I was excited that a few weeks ago I was finally off the waitlist for the Ipsy bag. If you are not familiar with Ipsy this is taken directly from their website:
Each month, subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.
Now $10 to play with samples AND get a nifty little bag? Yes please! Also, if you do not get picked to try a product they have codes where you get a discount.
There were about 14 different items that you were able to receive and based off a quiz that I had taken previously, 5 of the 14 were chosen for me. The ones I received were as follows:
NYX Single Eye shadow - Fantasy
The NYX Single Eyeshadow packs a punch of color and is incredibly easy to blend. Go edgy or understated effortlessly, and enjoy the luscious, long-wearing color from sunrise to sunset...and beyond!
As soon as I received this I opened it up and started using it. I really like this brand. It is not super expensive (retails around $4.50) but there are usually only a few stores that I have seen it at. It seemed to go on very well and was easy to apply. Makeup normally does not last long on me but this seems to last a little longer than what it normally does on my day to day wear. I actually traded another item in my bag for another one of these that should be here within the week. Would I buy this again? Yes probably but I would more than likely buy it as a combo as I don't have many single colors of eye shadows.
POP Pouty Pop Crayon - Rose Romance
POP's Pouty Pop Crayon nourishes, treats, and adds that perfectly-plumped pop to lips. These extra-nourishing balms gently bounce onto lips creating a plumped & pillowy pout leaving them with luscious, long-lasting colour with a super-smooth texture. Available in six shades.
Following shades available in the ipsy Glam Bag: Rose Romance, Coral Crush, and Fuchsia Flirt.
This I received in Rose Romance. It has a slight "peppermint" odor which would make sense as it is a plumping lip product. I do not normally like lipsticks or lip glosses. If you do catch me wearing a lip product it is normally going to be a lip stain. I did try this product though and it does appear to go on smoothly. I could not really tell that it really "plumped" up my lips or anything similar to that. It also is not a good color on me and was very light.
The other products that I received were as follows:
Eliabeth Mott's It's So Big Volumizing Mascara - Black
An ipsy exclusive launch! This mascara was created using a unique formula that delivers BIG volume and lengthens and curls your lashes without smudging! The hourglass brush ensures that you get the right amount of mascara applied to each lash. Use the It's So Big Volumizing Mascara with the Lash Card and watch your lashes grow bigger with each layer!
Starlooks Obsidian Kohl Eye Pencil
The Starlooks Obsidian Kohl Eye Pencil glides across delicate lids without pulling. Try using this creamy liner to create a smoky eye or use it as a base for eyeshadows on your entire lid. Available in 11 stunning and super saturated shades!
Chella's Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil
Chella's Ivory Lace Highlighter Pencil is a fresh and pretty neutral pencil that will brighten and visibly lift your eyes when lightly applied on the brow bone, dark circles, blemishes and red spots. Draw a line under the brow with this creamy pencil and then pat gently into place using your ring finger. May be used above the brow for additional highlighting, as well as anywhere you would use a concealer.
I did not open these products as they were not things that applied to me at all. I actually swapped the Chella and the other two are open for swaps or I will use them to supplement gifts. Makeup for me is pretty simple and I have not the time, patience or desire to learn how to use more makeup at this point in my life.
So that is what I received for $10 along with the nifty bag! Even though some of the products do not apply to me per say, it was not a bad deal for $10 and a little pick me up surprise in the middle of the month. Plus with the coupon codes that you receive it makes it even more of a good deal! I will do it for a few months at least and see if it becomes more customized for me. If you want to try this subscription box then here is a referral code that you can use!
